Two talked-about exhibitions, THE FEAR EXHIBITION and MEMORY CONTAMINATION EXHIBITION, will be held simultaneously in Nagoya from Friday, January 29, 2027. The venue is 金山南ビル美術館棟 (Kanayama Minami Building museum wing), the former 名古屋ボストン美術館 (Nagoya/Boston Museum of Fine Arts). Between them, the two exhibitions have drawn a cumulative total of over 277,000 visitors.
What Is THE FEAR EXHIBITION?
"Fear" is the dread or unease a person feels physiologically toward a certain thing or event.
It is not limited to things that carry a threat to life or cause pain. It can also arise toward things that don't seem frightening at first glance, and these fears sometimes come with an inexplicable irrationality.
THE FEAR EXHIBITION takes the "fears" people hold toward a wide variety of things, such as pointed tips, confined spaces, and gazes, as its theme. Through the objects on display, it aims to offer visitors a chance to face their own fears.
Some of the exhibits are fiction.
The exhibition was created by horror writer 梨, 株式会社闇, and TV Tokyo producer 大森時生, the team behind 『行方不明展』, who have joined forces again. The touring exhibition has drawn a cumulative total of over 220,000 visitors in Tokyo, Osaka, and Sapporo, and is currently also being held in Fukuoka and Taiwan. It is now coming to Nagoya.

MEMORY CONTAMINATION EXHIBITION is an exhibition that contaminates your memory.
The only basis on which you believe in reality is your own memory. Memory creates your reality itself. So what happens to reality if memory becomes contaminated? MEMORY CONTAMINATION EXHIBITION is an exhibition that shakes your memory.
The contamination has already begun.
This exhibition is fiction.
The exhibition was held in Shibuya, Tokyo, in the summer of 2026, drawing 55,000 visitors over 36 days and earning a satisfaction rating of over 93% in the visitor survey. It is planned by 株式会社闇, which has produced immersive exhibitions such as 『行方不明展』 and THE FEAR EXHIBITION. 株式会社TwoGate, whose works include 『視える人には見える展』 and 『視てはいけない絵画展』, took part in the production. The script is by writer 品田遊 (ダ・ヴィンチ・恐山), and the key visual is by art director 永戸鉄也. Creators from a range of fields have come together to deliver an immersive exhibition in which visitors' memories are contaminated.
