Celebrating 140 Years of Okayama's Muscat of Alexandria
Muscat of Alexandria is a grape known for its elegant, rich aroma and flavor, and its jewel-like, transparent emerald green color. Legend has it that Cleopatra, one of history's most celebrated beauties, was fond of the grape — earning it the nickname "Queen of Grapes." Its deliciousness and beauty have been passed down through generations, and Okayama Prefecture, which boasts Japan's highest production volume, is marking 140 years of cultivation this year.
As various promotions organized by JA Zen-Noh Okayama unfold across the country, FERNANDA is upcycling the pressed grape pulp from Okayama-grown Muscat of Alexandria into fragrance ingredients. By making effective use of the pomace — the fruit material left after juice extraction during wine and food processing — the brand works to reduce its environmental impact while delivering the authentic scent of the fruit itself.
Recreating the Fresh Scent of Muscat Straight from the Vineyard
The fragrance opens with crisp muscat leaf and refreshing lemon acidity, then blooms into juicy muscat, with graceful muguet gently rounding out the composition. It is a fragrance that faithfully recreates Muscat of Alexandria itself — fresh, sweet, and elegant.
