Funabashiya Koyomi Releases Two Summer-Limited Wagashi for July 2026

Funabashiya Koyomi, a sister brand of Japanese confectionery maker Funabashiya, is introducing two summer-limited sweets for July 2026. The lineup includes a new "Matcha Kudzu-mochi Pudding (Granola)" and the July seasonal shiruko "Lemon Shiratama Shiruko," both available from July 2 (Thursday) to July 31 (Friday), 2026.

Matcha Kudzu-mochi Pudding (Granola)

The new "Matcha Kudzu-mochi Pudding (Granola)" builds on the popular "Matcha Kudzu-mochi Pudding" by adding a new layer of texture and flavor. The matcha pudding is made using fermented wheat starch — the same base ingredient as kudzu-mochi — giving it a characteristically chewy consistency. Crispy granola is added as a topping, and when the separately served "Kudzu-mochi Lactic Acid Bacteria® Black Syrup" is drizzled over it, the slightly bitter matcha and gentle sweetness of the kuromitsu come together.

The dessert layers smooth pudding and crunchy granola for a varied textural experience from start to finish. It combines traditional wagashi fermentation techniques and matcha flavor with Western-inspired granola.

Lemon Shiratama Shiruko

The "Lemon Shiratama Shiruko" is the July entry in Funabashiya Koyomi's seasonal shiruko series, which changes flavor each month. The dessert features two layers: a house-made lemon paste that highlights the citrus fruit's bright acidity and aroma, and a house-made adzuki shiruko made with Hokkaido adzuki beans.

The gentle sweetness of adzuki is paired with the clean, refreshing character of lemon, creating a combination suited to the summer heat. The balance of sweetness and acidity makes for a light finish, even in warm weather.
