Studio Ghibli Park Announces Major Exhibition Renewal and New Aircraft Display

Studio Ghibli Park will introduce exciting new additions this winter, including a major renewal of its immersive exhibition and the display of an iconic aircraft from the beloved animated film "Porco Rosso."

Major Renewal of "Ghibli Famous Scene Experience Exhibition" on December 17

The "Ghibli Famous Scene Experience Exhibition" at Ghibli's Grand Warehouse will undergo its first major renewal since the park's opening in November 2022. This interactive exhibition allows visitors to step into famous scenes from Studio Ghibli films as various characters, with photography permitted throughout.

The renewal will replace 7 out of 14 exhibition corners, introducing fresh experiences for visitors. A highlight of the renewal is the new corner featuring "The Boy and the Heron," where guests can step into the role of protagonist Mahito and recreate the scene where he faces his great-uncle alongside Himi.

New Exhibition Corners (4 works):

  • "On Your Mark"
  • "My Neighbors the Yamadas"
  • "Ghiblies episode2"
  • "The Boy and the Heron"

Updated Exhibition Corners (3 works):

Different famous scenes from:

  • "Only Yesterday"
  • "Porco Rosso"
  • "The Tale of the Princess Kaguya"

Current exhibitions will be available until December 1

Continuing Exhibition Corners (7 works):

The following beloved exhibitions will remain:

  • "Castle in the Sky"
  • "Pom Poko"
  • "Princess Mononoke"
  • "Spirited Away"
  • "Tales from Earthsea"
  • "Ponyo"
  • "From Up on Poppy Hill"

Note: Ghibli Park will be closed from December 2-16 for maintenance work. To experience the "Ghibli Famous Scene Experience Exhibition," visitors need tickets that provide access to Ghibli's Grand Warehouse.

Savoia S-21 Aircraft Display at Rotunda Kazegaoka from November 1

Starting November 1, Rotunda Kazegaoka (cafeteria) at Ai-Chikyuhaku Memorial Park's North Gate Plaza will display the Savoia S-21 aircraft from "Porco Rosso." To complement this addition, the cafeteria will reopen with a new menu inspired by the aircraft, featuring items like Neapolitan pasta.

This wooden art piece was previously exhibited at the "Ghibli 3D Art Exhibition" in Tokyo, which concluded on September 23. Following the exhibition's end, the aircraft has been relocated to Rotunda Kazegaoka for permanent display.

Rotunda Kazegaoka (cafeteria) will be closed from September 26 to October 31 for renovation work. The new menu will be announced on the Ghibli Park website at a later date.

The separate shop building will continue operating during the renovation period, open 10:00 AM-6:00 PM on Ghibli Park operating days. Both the cafeteria and shop at Rotunda Kazegaoka are accessible to visitors without Ghibli Park tickets.
