Grand Hyatt Fukuoka's Bars Host "Canvas & Cocktails," a Week Where Vivid Art Meets Cocktail Culture

The two bars at Grand Hyatt Fukuoka (1-2-82 Sumiyoshi, Hakata-ku) are hosting "Canvas & Cocktails," a collaboration event with Fukuoka-based artist KOGAKEN, from Monday, August 17 to Sunday, August 23, 2026. During the event, the hotel's 1st-floor bar "MARTINI'S" displays KOGAKEN's artwork, with the bar space brought to life by his vivid, dynamic paintings alongside a limited-time original cocktail and food menu. There's also a live painting performance by the artist himself, plus a kids' workshop where children can experience both art-making and cocktail-making. Set within the hotel's refined spaces, the event offers a special chance to encounter art and cocktail culture. KOGAKEN is a Fukuoka-based artist known for his vivid colors and dynamic style, depicting people and cityscapes from his own perspective by layering acrylic paint with a painting knife. He received the Newcomer Award at the "Vivid Contemporary Artist Exhibition 2018" held at the Fukuoka Asian Art Museum, and in recent years has been active both domestically and internationally, exhibiting at art fairs, performing live paintings, and creating murals.

Live Painting Performance

Over two days, August 21 (Fri) and 22 (Sat), KOGAKEN will hold a live painting performance. On the first day, he paints the canvas with abstract expression; on the second day, a motif gradually emerges from within that work. It's a rare chance to witness up close the process behind a piece — something the finished work alone can't convey. Enjoy the immersive performance along with cocktails and wine.
