Grinpa (ぐりんぱ), the outdoor activity park set amid the nature of Mount Fuji's 2nd station in Susono City, Shizuoka Prefecture, is opening a new athletic facility called Ranger Academy on Friday, August 21, 2026. Modeled on real ranger training, the course has participants move their bodies through a series of missions.
The 1,500-square-meter training area features 10 types of obstacles, including a single-log bridge, low crawling, and a zipline-style glide. As ranger cadets, participants make their way through the forest at the foot of Mount Fuji, searching for numbers hidden at each obstacle and clearing one challenge after another. Those who solve the final puzzle set by the instructor receive a badge marking them as a certified ranger.
Designed around the concept of building "mind, skill, and body" through elements drawn from real ranger training, Ranger Academy is a survival-style athletic course. Beyond strength and balance, it tests the insight needed to spot clues hidden at each obstacle and the thinking required to solve them, making it a course that both kids and adults can get absorbed in. The process of thinking through each challenge and using physical effort to clear it toward the goal is also well suited to nurturing a sense of independence and a willingness to take on challenges in children. Set amid the nature of Mount Fuji's 2nd station, it offers a new athletic experience where visitors can enjoy a sense of accomplishment through play.
Ranger Academy follows Shooting Mission Waru's Nest, which opened this past July, as the park continues to add new attractions.
