Guinness World Record Stained Glass Armor Tours Seven Meitetsu Hotels in Aichi and Gifu

Meitetsu Hotel Holdings Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Nagoya, Aichi; President: Hajime Futagami) launches a special collaborative project on February 1, 2026, featuring a Guinness World Record-certified stained glass armor touring seven Meitetsu Hotel Group properties across Aichi and Gifu prefectures, regions connected to the legendary warlords Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Hidenaga.

This project connects seven hotels in relay format, passing a stained glass artwork modeled after Toyotomi Hideyoshi's armor—recreated with approximately 20,000 pieces of vintage glass—as a "baton of light." During the exhibition period, each hotel will display the armor in their lobbies, sell commemorative "Goshukubaiin" (inn stamps) as proof of visit, and offer restaurant discount campaigns via social media. Experience this unique touring journey where historical romance meets the brilliance of stained glass.

Guinness World Record Stained Glass Armor Exhibition

Stained Glass Armor Details

The armor on display is an extremely valuable piece owned by Toyokuni Shrine (Nakamura Ward, Nagoya), located at the birthplace of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and is not normally open to public viewing. Created by stained glass artist Yoji Uchiyama, the work reinterprets Hideyoshi's iconic "Ichinotani Baji Kabuto" (horned helmet) as contemporary art with dignified armor styling.

The source of its brilliance lies in rare vintage glass used in World Heritage restoration projects. Through meticulous craftsmanship assembling approximately 20,000 glass pieces in 33 colors into 72 parts, this masterpiece achieves overwhelming sculptural beauty exceeding 2 meters in height. In April 2025, it was certified as a Guinness World Record for "the largest stained glass armor." This is a one-of-a-kind artistic masterpiece—a wearable, life-size stained glass armor unprecedented worldwide. Experience up close this miraculous radiance where historical weight and glass delicacy converge.
