A free hotel lobby art exhibition, HAPPY SMILE ART in Mitsui Garden Hotels, is set to open simultaneously at two Mitsui Garden Hotels in Fukuoka from April 11 to May 31, 2026. Organized in collaboration with Group Happy Smile (一般社団法人グループハッピースマイル), the event showcases works by 28 Fukuoka-based artists.
This marks the first time the exhibition is being held in Fukuoka. With support from NPO Maru, based in Fukuoka City, a total of 61 artworks created using a wide variety of materials will be displayed across both venues over two periods. The pieces capture the vibrant character of Fukuoka and the grand natural landscapes of Kyushu.
About "HAPPY SMILE ART in Mitsui Garden Hotels"
The exhibition aims to give everyone easy access to art by displaying works created by artists with disabilities in hotel lobbies — promoting an environment free from mental barriers. Mitsui Garden Hotel Fukuoka Gion
Located in the Gion district, where Hakata's history and culture are deeply rooted, this hotel blends tradition and modern design. The interiors incorporate motifs from Hakata-ori weaving and five-colored patterns, creating a warm, refined atmosphere. A variety of room types are available to suit guests ranging from short sightseeing stays to extended visits. The top floor features a large communal bath with an open-air section and a steam sauna, where guests can unwind under the Fukuoka night sky.
