Eric Haze (エリック・ヘイズ), a New York-based artist, will hold his first exhibitions in Fukuoka, running at two venues in Fukuoka City at the same time. GALLERY SOPH. (ギャラリー・ソフ) hosts "FURNITURE AND DRAWINGS 2026 EXHIBITION BY ERIC HAZE" from Friday, November 20 to Sunday, December 20, 2026, while SORTone Fukuoka (ソートワン・フクオカ) hosts "ERIC HAZE EXHIBITION ABSTRACT ICONS" from Friday, November 20 to Sunday, November 29, 2026.
Eric Haze built his own form of expression across art, design, music, and fashion, starting from the New York graffiti culture of the 1970s. His signature lettering and symbols have gone beyond street culture and continue to influence the contemporary art and design scenes.
The two exhibitions in Fukuoka are held under two themes, "the possibility of art in living spaces" and "the expandability of art as culture," with different content at each venue. Visitors can experience where Eric Haze stands today from multiple angles, after many years at the forefront of the culture scene.
FURNITURE AND DRAWINGS 2026 EXHIBITION BY ERIC HAZE at GALLERY SOPH.
At GALLERY SOPH., functional furniture is elevated into art. The exhibition gives new value and a new perspective to products found in everyday spaces, and offers Eric Haze's own approach to making art feel closer to daily life.
On display and for sale are one-of-a-kind works made by painting on the Eames Shell Chair (イームズ・シェルチェアー), a masterpiece of mid-century furniture. A limited item is also on sale: a PVC bag made in collaboration with "uniform experiment" and carrying Eric Haze's handwritten signature.

About Eric Haze
Eric Haze is a legendary New York artist and designer. He began his career in the 1970s and exhibited his work alongside friends such as Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat. In the late 1980s he founded his own design studio, and in the 1990s he launched an apparel brand. Known for his iconic hand-drawn lettering, he has drawn attention in contemporary design and street culture through collaborations with brands, and remains one of the most popular creators in the field.
