"Fugaku Shokei" - Miniature Mount Fuji Landscapes in Confectionery Form
Katanukiya, a specialty confectionery shop in Tokyo's Ginza district, has launched a new product line called "Fugaku Shokei" (Small Fuji Landscapes). Based on Hokusai's famous "Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji," these confections feature reproductions of the artwork with carefully adjusted colors and compositions to suit the confectionery format. Using ultra-high-definition food printing technology, even the delicate color gradations that Hokusai sought to capture have been faithfully reproduced on these sweets.
The name "Fugaku Shokei" combines references to Hokusai's "Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji" (Fugaku Sanjurokkei) with "shokei" meaning "a memorable small scene," representing the Mount Fuji landscapes reflected in these small confections.
