A new seasonal pastry is coming to Hotel New Grand's retail shops in Yokohama. From April 1 (Wednesday) through May 31 (Sunday), 2026, the hotel's directly operated shop S.Weil by HOTEL NEW GRAND — available at both the main store and the Yokohama Takashimaya store — will be offering a new bakery creation called "Galette Pomme."
The Galette Pomme features a crunchy danish dough filled with a fragrant, delicately sweet crème d'amande and thinly sliced apple compote arranged like flower petals, finished with a baked crispy crumble topping. The combination of rich butter aroma, gentle apple sweetness, and satisfying texture makes it a thoroughly enjoyable danish for weekend mornings or any leisurely moment.

About the Bakery Chef
Bakery Chef: Makoto Kawaguchi
Born November 25, 1969, in Kanagawa Prefecture. Kawaguchi began his career in 1992 learning French bread-making techniques from Philippe Bigot, who brought French bread traditions to Japan. With approximately 30 years of experience in the bread-making industry, he has honed his craft at multiple hotels and bakeries, accumulating wide-ranging experience including product development and supervision. He joined Hotel New Grand in 2024, and guided by his motto "delicious things are beautiful," he pursues artistic sensibility and exceptional dining experiences in his daily product development work.
