On Wednesday, November 11, 2026, Roast Beef Kamakurayama Main Store (ローストビーフの店 鎌倉山 本店) in Kamakura, Kanagawa, will hold a special dinner welcoming Antonino Destro, the producer behind Destro Vini, who is visiting from Sicily, Italy.
The course centers on Kamakurayama's specialty, carefully selected black wagyu roast beef, and is paired with four Etna wines, including wines that were also served at an official guest dinner at the Prime Minister's Official Residence in March 2025, during the visit of the President of Italy. More than a typical winemaker's dinner, the evening lets guests hear the producer's own words while enjoying how the terroir of Etna and the deep flavor of wagyu come together.
Roast Beef Kamakurayama, Founded in 1971
Roast Beef Kamakurayama Main Store stands on a green hilltop surrounded by Kamakura's rich natural setting. Since its founding, it has served roast beef made only from carefully selected black wagyu and slowly roasted by its craftspeople. The restaurant's classical residence-style space offers a sense of occasion, and its wagon service, in which the meat is carved right in front of guests, has long been popular with food lovers.

Destro Vini and the Terroir of Sicily's Mount Etna
Destro Vini has its winery near Randazzo, on the northern side of Mount Etna in eastern Sicily. Taking advantage of the volcanic soil and distinctive climate of northern Etna, it makes wines centered on the Sicilian native varieties Nerello Mascalese and Carricante.

At the winery, Nerello Mascalese, Carricante and other varieties are grown on land that originates from actual lava flows, and the character of the vineyards, the land and the grapes is expressed in the wines. Destro also shares the culture and land of Etna itself through its vineyards, its cellar and a tasting space that makes use of an old palmento built in 1897.

At this dinner, guests will hear directly from the producer about something rarely heard in Japan: what it means to make wine on Etna, an active volcano.
Four Etna Wines and a Special Course
Four Etna wines will be paired with dishes such as Kamakurayama's traditional black wagyu roast beef and the Kamakurayama Special Hors d'Oeuvre.
Two of them, the white wine イソラヌーダ and the red wine アイソス, were served at the official guest dinner at the Prime Minister's Official Residence when President Mattarella of Italy visited Japan in March 2025. At that dinner, the 2021 vintage of イソラヌーダ was served. For this dinner, the producer has prepared vintages that are drinking beautifully now.
The Wines
I. サクサニグラ 2021
Sicily, Etna / Nerello Mascalese / sparkling
A sparkling wine made from Nerello Mascalese, one of Etna's leading black grape varieties. It is made using the traditional method, the same as Champagne, and offers fine bubbles along with the fresh acidity and delicacy that come from Etna's cool, high-altitude climate. It is a fitting opening to the meal and also pairs well with seafood and appetizers.

II. イソラヌーダ 2022
Sicily, Etna / Carricante / white
A white wine known for the clear acidity and mineral character typical of Etna whites. Made from Carricante, an Etna white grape, it has a freshness that comes from Etna's high elevation, different from the warm image of Sicily. It is expected to pair well with seafood, shellfish and vegetable dishes. This is the white wine that was served at the official guest dinner at the Prime Minister's Official Residence when President Mattarella of Italy visited Japan in March 2025.

III. ザウラ 2023
Sicily, Etna / Nerello Mascalese / rosé
A rosé that combines fruit flavors reminiscent of the Sicilian sun with the structure of Etna's native Nerello Mascalese. Fresh acidity and pleasant fruit come together, and it has a supple richness with the refined character typical of Etna. It goes well with a wide range of dishes, from appetizers and fish to lighter meat dishes, and shows different faces depending on the pairing.

IV. アイソス 2019
Sicily, Etna / Nerello Mascalese / red
The red wine that closes out the pairing. It shows the appeal of Nerello Mascalese, Etna's representative black grape, with the complexity that comes from aging and the elegant acidity typical of Etna. An Etna Rosso with strength and delicacy, acidity, minerality and a lingering finish is expected to go well with dishes that bring out the flavor of wagyu. This is the red wine that was served at the official guest dinner at the Prime Minister's Official Residence when President Mattarella of Italy visited Japan in March 2025.
