Kamogawa Sea World in Kamogawa City, Chiba will hold its annual summer soaking event, "Summer Splash," from July 1 (Wednesday) to August 31 (Monday), 2026. The event has been moved earlier in the season this year in anticipation of intense summer heat, giving visitors more opportunities to cool off during the orca shows.
What Is Summer Splash?
A summer tradition at Kamogawa Sea World, "Summer Splash" is held within the regular orca performance show at the Ocean Stadium. An orca weighing over 2 tonnes uses its enormous tail fin — measuring over 1.5 meters wide — to powerfully slam the water surface in a signature move called the "Tail Burst," launching sheets of cold seawater over the crowd. Often described on social media as "a must-try experience," the cool splash makes it a refreshing way to beat Japan's scorching summer heat.
