The Nordic lifestyle facility Metsa Village (Hanno City, Saitama) hosts HYPER MUSEUM HANNO, a contemporary art museum, which celebrates its first anniversary with a major exhibition: KAWAIITOPIA -GO TO HEAVEN (HELL)- by artist Sebastian Masuda. Opening on Saturday, March 14, 2026, the anniversary show features a unique tie-up with Seibu Railway for a one-day-only special express ride.
KAWAII TRAIN: A One-Day Special Express from Ikebukuro to KAWAIITOPIA
Date: Saturday, May 16, 2026
In collaboration with Seibu Railway's "Imagination, Beyond the Diagonal." campaign, a special limited express Laview dubbed the "KAWAII TRAIN" will operate for one day only, running from Ikebukuro to Hanno. Designed by architect Kazuyo Sejima with its distinctive large windows and yellow seats, the Laview will be transformed with Sebastian Masuda's KAWAII world for the journey.

On board, guests can enjoy KAWAII-themed BGM selected by Sebastian Masuda himself, a special version of the "Imagination Card" experience, and on-train KAWAII drinks and snacks inspired by the Nordic tradition of FIKA (a relaxed break with light refreshments and conversation). The train attendant Pink Bird — a character from Sebastian Masuda's Kyoto-to-the-future restaurant concept "FUTURE TRAIN" — and Sebastian Masuda himself will also make an appearance.
After arriving at the museum, participants can join an artist-led tour with Sebastian Masuda and museum director Shigeo Goto, who will explain the exhibited works in person.
<SPECIAL ①> Commemorative Ticket with Hand Punch
Each boarding commemorative ticket will receive an old-fashioned conductor's hole punch. In the digital age, a hand-punched analog ticket serves as a uniquely personal souvenir of the journey.

<SPECIAL ②> KAWAII FIKA On Board
The KAWAII TRAIN's destination — Hanno — is the gateway to Metsa Village, a Nordic lifestyle experience facility surrounded by lakeside nature. As a collaboration between the "home of KAWAII" and a "Nordic sanctuary," colorful Nordic-imported KAWAII drinks and snacks will be served on board. (One drink and one snack provided at random per person)

<SPECIAL ③> Imagination Card Experience
After FIKA, each guest receives one "Imagination Card" from Pink Bird to spark their imagination on the way to KAWAIITOPIA.

KAWAIITOPIA -GO TO HEAVEN (HELL)- Exhibition

HYPER MUSEUM HANNO's first anniversary exhibition spotlights Sebastian Masuda, the leading figure of Japan's KAWAII pop culture. Born in 1970, Masuda has been based in Harajuku, Tokyo since 1995, working across art, fashion, and entertainment. He opened his creative shop "6%DOKIDOKI" in Harajuku in 1995 and has produced the music video art direction for Kyary Pamyu Pamyu's "PONPONPON," directed the KAWAII MONSTER CAFE, and helped spread KAWAII culture worldwide. This exhibition marks his first large-scale solo show in five years and coincides with the 30th anniversary of the opening of 6%DOKIDOKI.
Highlights include KAWAII-CORE ISLAND, a pink KAWAII sanctuary floating on Lake Miyazawa, and a giant tower "PolyChromatic Skin – Gender Tower –" at the entrance. Inside, visitors embark on an immersive journey through "7 Realms of KAWAII Hell," tracing Masuda's creative origins and encountering the core of KAWAII.
