Kushiro Prince Hotel (7-1 Saiwaicho, Kushiro, Hokkaido) is running a "Sorry It's Hot" and "Sorry It's Cold" campaign, changing guests' room discounts based on the day's temperature so that more visitors can experience Kushiro's refreshingly cool summers.
Kushiro's average summer temperature runs around 21°C, a notably comfortable climate that has made the city known as a summer retreat. At the same time, the nationwide heat wave means some days can turn out hotter than usual even here.
With that in mind, the hotel created the "Sorry It's Hot" and "Sorry It's Cold" campaign as a lighthearted way to offer room discounts whenever the day meets the campaign's conditions. It's a temperature-linked promotion that lets guests enjoy Kushiro's reputation as a cool city while making the climate itself part of the fun of the trip.

Temperature determinations are based on the observed values published by the Japan Meteorological Agency (daily high temperature list). Guests who qualify for a discount will be informed at check-in. If the actual high temperature exceeds the qualifying threshold after the 11:00 AM forecast is issued, the discount will not apply. This offer is available for web reservations only, is limited in the number of rooms, and the discount applies only to guests who book the corresponding plan. This plan is limited to a one-night stay.
The campaign was designed as a playful way to experience the region's appeal as a place where "Kushiro summers stay cool." On days that turn out hotter than expected, the hotel offers a discount in the spirit of a "sorry it's hot" apology, while on cooler days, guests can simply enjoy the comfortable summer that only Kushiro can offer.
The hotel hopes to deliver a trip where even the weather becomes part of the memories.
