LE KLINT's new "Softly Pleated" pendant light series goes on sale in Japan on June 29, 2026 (Monday). Designed by Philippe Bro Ludvigsen — who marked his 30th year of collaboration with the brand in 2025 — the collection carries forward LE KLINT's signature pleated shade while introducing felt as its primary material, replacing the plastic and paper traditionally used. First presented at a furniture design exhibition in Denmark in 2014, the series took more than a decade to reach commercial production.
The felt shade creates a warm, intimate atmosphere through its characteristic golden light. Light from the lower portion of the shade also provides practical illumination for tables and work surfaces.
Each shade features perforations that resemble stitch marks. These serve as fold guides for the craftspeople who fold each shade by hand, while also allowing light to filter through softly, adding depth and a calm, textured appearance.
Felt is also known for its acoustic properties — its structure helps absorb mid-to-high frequency sounds such as human voices, reducing noise and contributing to a quieter environment.
Available in multiple sizes, the Softly Pleated series suits a range of settings, from living rooms and children's rooms to hotels, cafes, and restaurants.

About the Designer
Philippe Bro Ludvigsen
Born in Australia, Philippe Bro Ludvigsen graduated from the Danish Design School in 1989 and subsequently founded his own design studio. He has designed for brands including Georg Jensen, Eilersen, and Royal Copenhagen.
His collaboration with LE KLINT, which reached its 30th anniversary in 2025, has produced numerous lighting pieces that reinterpret the brand's traditional pleated shades in a contemporary direction. Recent works include the "Candlelight" design.
