A new soft serve ice cream shaped like a blooming flower has gone on sale at the Monzen store of Matsushima Kamaboko Honpo in Matsushima, Miyagi, starting April 29, 2026 — the first day of Golden Week. Known as the "Hanabira (Flower Petal) Soft Cream," it is a first for the Tohoku region and is available exclusively at this single location.
The soft serve is made using a specialized machine imported from Italy, which creates layers of frilled "petals" that give it the appearance of a single flower in full bloom. The striking visual makes it a natural fit for photos and social sharing, adding a new highlight to a visit to the Matsushima area.

The flavor is vanilla — rich in milky depth yet light and airy on the palate, making it pleasant to enjoy from the first bite to the last.
