On Saturday, October 31, 2026, a new baby castella specialty shop called "Castella MARUMI" (カステラMARUMI) will open at Marché VISON (マルシェ ヴィソン) inside VISON, the large resort complex in Taki Town, Mie Prefecture. The shop serves fluffy, freshly baked baby castella made with ingredients from Mie Prefecture.

Built around the concept "Mie, whole, in one bite," the shop uses Mie-grown wheat, eggs, and milk, and bakes its baby castella at the storefront. The castella can be enjoyed plain or paired with a dip of your choice, so the flavor changes with the ingredients and combinations you pick.

Mie's Bounty in Bite-Sized Sweets

MARUMI's baby castella is known for its gentle sweetness, made with local ingredients such as Mie-grown wheat, eggs, and milk. No honey is used, and each piece is baked one by one at the storefront. The bite-sized treats are meant to be enjoyed by everyone from small children to older visitors.

The shop's name carries two meanings: "MARU" stands for the round baby castella and for the circle of people who share them, while "MI" reflects a love for Mie's ingredients and the region's appeal. The shop hopes to be a place where families, friends, and travel companions can share Mie's flavors with a friendly "Have a bite."

Enjoy Them Plain or With a Dip
