After a soak in the hot spring and a good dinner, the evening at Misasa Yakushi no Yu Mansuirou, a historic ryokan in Tottori Prefecture's Misasa Onsen, now has one more thing to look forward to. Starting October 8, 2026 (Thursday), the ryokan holds "Yuagari Sweets Night - Autumn Night Tales: The Story of Misasa Onsen and Mount Mitoku" every Thursday in October. "Yuagari" means "after the bath," and the event invites guests to enjoy local sweets while learning about the history and culture of the area.
An Evening of Misasa Stories After the Onsen
A stay at a ryokan is remembered not only for the hot spring and the meals, but for the time spent in a way that is possible only in that place. "Yuagari Sweets Night" is a new program designed to make guests' stays richer and more memorable, offering a chance to experience the charm of the region in the evening hours after dinner and the onsen.
Under the subtitle "Autumn Night Tales: The Story of Misasa Onsen and Mount Mitoku," Mansuirou staff serve as storytellers. Using photos and video shown on a screen, they introduce the history and culture of Misasa Onsen and its connection to Mount Mitoku. On a long autumn night, guests can relax in yukata, enjoy local sweets, and hear the story of Misasa.
A Collaboration With Local Sweets Shop Mitoku Kasho Hakurodo
Mitoku Kasho Hakurodo (三徳菓匠 白狼堂) is a local sweets shop at the foot of Mount Mitoku that opened in October 2021 and sells castella sweets and baked goods. It makes confections with names inspired by Mount Mitoku and the Misasa area, conveying the appeal of the mountain through sweets. Its signature products include "Nama Kasutera" (生神住寺), and it offers confections that bring in ingredients and stories unique to Misasa.
For this event, the Misasa-based shop is preparing a special sweet. This autumn, the offering is the "Nama Kasutera (生神住寺) Seasonal Fruit Sandwich," an arrangement of Hakurodo's popular castella "Kasutera" (神住寺).

Hakurodo's signature castella is finished in the style of Taiwanese castella, with a soft, moist texture. Between two layers of nama castella is custard cream made with soy milk from Kamikura soybeans (神倉大豆), and the top is finished with seasonal fruit. Whipped cream made with raw milk from Daisen Nyugyo (大山乳業) goes on top of that, and custard is blended into the cream as well, giving a gentle sweetness within a milky richness. It is a special sweet made for this event, packed with Misasa ingredients and local flavors.
After a long, warming soak in the hot spring, guests can enjoy seasonal fruit and fluffy nama castella prepared specially by a local sweets shop while hearing the story of Misasa Onsen and Mount Mitoku.
