Miyako Hotel Gifu Nagaragawa's Lounge Flora Offers Okinawan Mango Dessert Plate from August 1, 2026

A new dessert plate built around Okinawan mango arrives at Lounge Flora, the 1st floor lounge inside Miyako Hotel Gifu Nagaragawa, running from Saturday, August 1 through mid-September 2026.

Grown in Okinawa's rich natural environment and carefully cultivated in greenhouses, the mangoes are left to ripen slowly through natural temperature changes, drawing out a melt-in-the-mouth texture and rich sweetness.

Alongside cut mango, which lets guests enjoy that flavor directly, the plate also includes a sorbet made by carefully pureeing the fruit to bring out its natural flavor. It's a season-limited dessert plate for fully savoring the rich aroma and sweetness unique to Okinawan mango.

The dessert uses whichever Okinawan mango variety best suits the season, so the variety changes with the harvest timing — each with its own distinctive flavor.

Until mid-August: "Irwin Mango" or "Natsukobeni"

Mid-August to mid-September: "Natsukobeni" or "Keitt Mango"

Okinawan mango varieties used in the dessert plate

Irwin Mango

Okinawa's leading variety, which turns a vivid red across the whole skin when ripe. It has high sugar content balanced with a moderate tartness, a rich flavor, and a juicy, smooth texture.

Natsukobeni

High in sugar with a rich sweetness and only mild tartness. Its appeal lies in its melt-in-the-mouth texture and tropical aroma.

Keitt Mango

A variety whose skin stays green even when fully ripe. Larger than typical mangoes, with little fiber, a smooth mouthfeel, and rich sweetness.
