Seasonal Shaved Ice with TWG Tea and Uji Matcha at The Royal Park Hotel Iconic Nagoya's Sky-High Tea Lounge

The tea lounge "THE TEA LOUNGE," located on the 24th floor of The Royal Park Hotel Iconic Nagoya in Sakae, Nagoya, will serve two summer-limited shaved ice desserts starting June 2, 2026. The two creations take contrasting approaches — one Western, one Japanese — with the Black Tea Ice highlighting the delicate aroma of TWG Tea, and the Uji Matcha Ice showcasing the layered depth of Uji matcha.

The Black Tea Ice is finished with a syrup made from TWG Tea, topped with whipped cream, honey lemon, and chervil. Inside the shaved ice, a salt milk ice made with Lorraine rock salt adds a subtle saltiness that draws out the fragrance of the tea and the sweetness of the honey lemon. A TWG Tea jelly at the base ensures the aroma of black tea lingers to the very last spoonful. A side serving of honey lemon syrup lets guests adjust the sweetness to their preference.

The Uji Matcha Ice begins with a springy black sugar jelly at the base, layered with salt milk ice and shaved ice, then finished with a pleasantly bitter matcha syrup. The top is dusted with matcha from Myokoen, releasing its aroma from the very first bite. Accents of refreshing yuzu peel and gently sweet candied chestnut round out the dessert, harmonizing with the deep flavor of the matcha. A side of condensed milk offers an additional way to experience the changing flavors.

The two shaved ices take opposite approaches: the Black Tea Ice is crafted around restraint — scaling back ingredients to let fragrance lead — while the Uji Matcha Ice builds its character through layering. Both can be savored while looking out over the Nagoya cityscape from the hotel's high-floor tea lounge.
