NIDEC Kyoto Tower, operated by Keihan Hotels & Resorts Co., Ltd., will host a Setsubun Tsuinasai festival at its observation deck on February 2, 2026. This event is held with the vision of the tower as a lighthouse illuminating the streets of Kyoto, praying together with visitors for warding off evil spirits, peace, and good fortune, while bringing traditional culture closer to everyone.

Setsubun Tsuinasai is a traditional Japanese event held at the seasonal turning point marking the end of a long winter and the arrival of warm spring, where people pray for good health and fortune by driving away evil spirits and welcoming good luck. At this event, a Setsubun Tsuinashiki ceremony will be conducted by priests from Kamomioya Shrine (Shimogamo Shrine) on the 5th floor of NIDEC Kyoto Tower's observation deck, located 100 meters above ground. After the ceremony, kindergarten children invited to the observation deck will energetically throw beans to wish for happiness throughout the year. Additionally, on the day of the event, lucky fukumame beans, believed to bring good health and fortune, will be distributed to visitors holding observation deck tickets on the first floor of the observation deck.
Why not experience traditional Japanese culture while wishing for a year of health and happiness at NIDEC Kyoto Tower, which offers panoramic views of Kyoto's historic streets?
