Nishitetsu Green Doboku Co., Ltd., which serves as the designated manager of the Japanese Garden at Fukuoka's Ohori Park, is opening a new nighttime art event, "Ohori Park Japanese Garden Night Art: SEKAI," on August 1, 2026.
From July 4, 2025 to June 30, 2026, the garden held a nighttime art event called "SORA," which drew around 67,500 visitors and received a warm response. Building on "SORA," the garden is now presenting a new nighttime art event, "Ohori Park Japanese Garden Night Art: SEKAI," with further-evolved staging and interactive content, offering a special evening experience that reveals a side of the Japanese garden very different from its daytime charm.
Theme: "From SORA to SEKAI, a New Stage"
There are natural phenomena in this world that exist beautifully even as they exceed human understanding. People have long been captivated by this mystery, expressing the world in many forms out of reverence and admiration for nature. The Japanese garden is itself a culture built on this idea, taking the beauty of nature as perceived through human sensibility and distilling it—through stone, water, plants, and empty space—into a single expressed world.
"SEKAI" carries that spirit of the Japanese garden into the present, offering a nighttime event where art and technology bring to life the beautiful phenomena found throughout the world. Born from reverence and admiration for nature, it is a new kind of nighttime experience.
An Immersive Night Art Experience Inside the World's Beautiful Phenomena
The centerpiece of the venue is a full-dome projection mapping staged around a giant sphere floating on the water. The light-wrapped sphere merges with the fantastical scenery reflected on the water's surface, letting visitors enjoy a special photo experience as if floating on the water themselves.
The event is rich with participatory content that changes according to visitors' own movements, including "Mist of Rainbow," "Forest of Prism," and "Glowing Earth," along with a mechanism where the scenery changes as visitors turn a handle, and an interactive piece where a forest lights up in response to piano notes—content that both children and adults can enjoy.

The "Thank You, Japanese Garden" Program
The Japanese Garden at Ohori Park is scheduled to close temporarily from March 31, 2027, for improvement and renovation work tied to the construction of the new Fukuoka Prefectural Art Museum. Since opening in 1985, the garden has been supported by many visitors over 42 years as a place conveying traditional Japanese culture and natural beauty, and as a place of relaxation for the community.
With that in mind, the garden is holding the "Thank You, Japanese Garden" program, using this limited period before the renovation as an opportunity to once again share the appeal of the Japanese garden—both with those who have long enjoyed visiting and with those who have never been.
"SEKAI" stands as a symbol of this effort. Visitors are invited to experience this special period at Ohori Park's Japanese Garden.
