Panasonic's interior lighting series MODIFY (Modifai) is set to expand its lineup to 186 models (excluding special-order "Premium Order" items) on June 21, 2026. The expansion includes new color and size variations, as well as models compatible with the replaceable LED Flat Lamp, broadening the range of lighting options for residential and commercial spaces alike.
A Design Philosophy Built on Familiar Forms
MODIFY was first launched in April 2009 under the supervision of designer Naoto Fukasawa. The series is built around three timeless shapes — the perfect sphere, hemisphere, and truncated cone — forms that have long defined the archetypal image of a light fixture. True to its name, MODIFY has continued to evolve over the years, incorporating the latest lighting technology while preserving these foundational silhouettes.
Now in its 17th year on the market, the series has earned a strong following in both residential and commercial settings.
What's New in the Expanded Lineup
A total of 128 new models are being added, bringing the lineup to 186 in total. The additions are designed to accommodate the growing diversity of interior design styles in homes and the rising emphasis on well-being in office environments.
For the sphere shape, two new finishes are introduced: "milky white glossy," which resembles the look of glass, and "amber." For the hemisphere shape, "aluminum gray" and "ivory gray" are being added. These new color options give users greater flexibility in coordinating lighting with their interior decor.
LED Flat Lamp Compatibility
S-size pendant lights and bracket lights in the hemisphere and truncated cone shapes will now be compatible with the LED Flat Lamp, a replaceable LED bulb that makes lamp swapping straightforward. This compatibility opens up additional functionality, including the Sync Dimming type — a feature that automatically adjusts the color temperature of the light in sync with brightness changes, creating a more comfortable and natural lighting experience.
Designed for a Wide Range of Spaces
With the expanded lineup, MODIFY is positioned to complement an even wider variety of environments — from residences and commercial facilities to hotels and offices. Panasonic plans to continue evolving the series by integrating new technologies while staying true to the three familiar shapes that define the MODIFY identity.
