The Ritz-Carlton, Osaka is bringing the flavors of spring to its dining venues in 2026, with a series of strawberry-themed events across two of its iconic spaces. The Lobby Lounge on the 1st floor launches the afternoon tea "Sakura & Strawberry Royal" from Tuesday, March 10, while the Italian restaurant Splendido on the 1st floor hosts the afternoon buffet "Strawberry Blossom" from Wednesday, March 11.
Afternoon Buffet "Strawberry Blossom" / Italian Restaurant Splendido (1st Floor)
The popular strawberry buffet returns for its second installment of the season. Following the first edition themed around "the marriage of strawberry and chocolate," the new "Strawberry Blossom" theme brings together sweets and savory dishes designed to celebrate spring through all five senses. Two varieties of fresh strawberries are served buffet-style, inviting guests to compare the natural flavor, acidity, and sweetness of each variety.
The sweets menu was crafted by Executive Pastry Chef Frédéric Moreau, who drew inspiration from the Japanese spring. Highlights include a cherry blossom mont blanc with vanilla mousse wrapped in sakura cream, and a strawberry-shaped mousse filled with a bittersweet matcha ganache. "Lychee Jelly with Coconut Meringue" layers sweet-tart strawberry sauce over a refreshing lychee jelly with a coconut meringue topping. A "Strawberry and Sakura Sponge Cake" layered with cherry blossom chantilly is prepared as a whole cake. The live dessert features "Ichigo Daifuku with Cacao Pulp Cream" — a soft mochi wrapped around fresh strawberry and rare cacao pulp cream.
Splendido's head chef Seishi Aoshima presents nine savory dishes for the season. Spring offerings include "Steamed Ginger Chicken with Udo Salad," "Clam and Spring Cabbage Minestrone," "Italian Style Tai Rice with Bamboo Shoots and Sansho," and "Peperoncino Spaghetti with Cherry Shrimp and Asparagus."
Guests are welcome to take photos and videos of the buffet before the session begins. Those who share a feed post on Instagram mentioning the hotel's official account (@ritzcarlton.osaka) will receive one original large chocolate chip cookie from The Ritz-Carlton Gourmet Shop (limited to one post per account).

Afternoon Tea "Sakura & Strawberry Royal" / The Lobby Lounge (1st Floor)

The Lobby Lounge, with its atmosphere evoking the grandeur of an English aristocratic manor and the gentle sound of live piano, presents the afternoon tea "Sakura & Strawberry Royal." The menu celebrates the combination of strawberries and cherry blossoms that mark the Japanese spring.
The sweets lineup by Executive Pastry Chef Frédéric Moreau includes three classic French pastries — Paris-Brest, mille-feuille, and Basque cake — all dressed with spring flavors of strawberry and sakura. Chef Moreau's Paris-Brest holds personal significance as the first cake he made for his parents when he began culinary school. He continues to use the original recipe unchanged: a light choux pastry generously filled with aromatic caramelized hazelnut cream. The mille-feuille features custard cream layered with caramel and genmaicha (brown rice tea) jam. "White Chocolate and Matcha Ganache with Strawberry Whipped Cream," decorated with sakura-shaped chocolates, surprises with a bittersweet matcha ganache interior beneath its delicate pink appearance.
Banquet Chef Yasuhiro Katayama's savory dishes include "Smoked Duck Breast with Tarragon Mustard and Green Beans Salad" and a sakura-flavored cream cheese served with nuts and dried fruit.

Lunch Buffet "Primavera with Strawberry" / Italian Restaurant Splendido (1st Floor)

Splendido on the 1st floor rounds out the spring lineup with a lunch buffet celebrating fresh seasonal produce. Head Chef Seishi Aoshima, who trained for four and a half years across Italy's Lombardy, Liguria, and Piedmont regions and traveled through nearly all 20 regions to study local food culture, presents "Porchetta with Basil Sauce" as the main dish — fragrant roasted pork complemented by fresh basil.


Chef Aoshima's spring Italian menu also includes "Herb-Crusted Grilled Sea Bass," "Chicken Cacciatore with Beans," "Polpettine in Tomato Sauce," "Orecchiette with Rapini and Anchovy Ragù and Baby Scallops," and "Spring Herb Risotto." Bitter rapini and vibrant spring cabbage add seasonal character to the carefully prepared appetizers, pasta, and warm dishes. The dessert selection features strawberry-based sweets, and the chocolate fountain from the afternoon buffet "Strawberry Blossom" is also available.
