New Photo Spots and Mountain Café Arrive at Rusutsu Resort's Yotei Panorama Terrace

Rusutsu Resort (head office: Sapporo, Hokkaido; President: Hisatake Kamori) is installing new photo spots — including a "RUSUTSU" letter sculpture and a photo frame — at its Yotei Panorama Terrace starting Saturday, June 27, 2026. A food truck café, SORIOI Mountain Café, will then begin operations from Saturday, July 18, 2026.

Located at an elevation of 715 meters, the Yotei Panorama Terrace is Rusutsu Resort's signature scenic viewpoint, offering sweeping views of Mt. Yotei (known as "Ezo Fuji"), Mt. Shiribetsu, and the mountains of Shikotsu-Toya National Park.

Mt. Yotei is called "Machineshiri (Woman Mountain)" in the Ainu language, while Mt. Shiribetsu is "Pineshiri (Man Mountain)" — the two have long been revered together as a married-couple pair. In Ainu mythology, Mt. Yotei is said to be the first land created by the gods, making it considered the birthplace of Hokkaido. The hill on which the Yotei Panorama Terrace sits — "Sorioi-yama (West Mt.)" — is also regarded in feng shui as a "dragon's head," where dragon veins converge, making it an auspicious spot associated with vitality and growth.

With these new additions, visitors can enjoy photography with dramatic backdrops, along with refreshments and relaxation at the mountaintop, adding new ways to experience the summit beyond simply taking in the views.

A Photo Frame That Frames Mt. Yotei Like a Painting

A large photo frame measuring 5 meters wide and 2.6 meters tall has been installed as the new landmark of the Yotei Panorama Terrace. Mt. Yotei viewed through the frame looks just like a painting. With the majestic scenery — which changes its expression with the seasons and time of day — as a backdrop, visitors can capture a truly special travel memory.

The "RUSUTSU" Letter Sculpture — Perfect for Sharing

A large all-white "RUSUTSU" letter sculpture has been installed at a spot overlooking the entire resort. At 10 meters wide, it offers plenty of creative possibilities — peek through the letters, sit in the "U," and more. Whether for family commemorative shots or social media posts, this is a fun and versatile photo spot.

New benches have been added under birch trees, where visitors can sit and enjoy the sweeping scenery at their leisure. Made with a comfortable, soft material, the benches are ideal for a rest during a walk. Visitors can spend time as they please, feeling the refreshing highland breeze.
