A new trolley train is taking shape on the Sagano Scenic Railway, with Sagano Scenic Railway Co., Ltd. building the set for its debut in spring 2027. Starting in August 2026, the locomotives and passenger cars will be coupled together for trial runs to check that everything functions as intended, and further updates will be posted on the railway's website as they become available.
With the launch date drawing closer, anticipation for the new trolley train continues to build.
Rolling Stock for the Trial Runs
The trial runs will use two locomotives and four passenger cars, with the passenger cars built by West Japan Railway Technos Corporation, part of the JR West Group.
