A new original dessert is set to launch at Sagara Koumare Onsen Hall in Makinohara, Shizuoka. Starting June 6, 2026 (Saturday), visitors can enjoy "Koumare Purin," a creamy sencha-flavored pudding created by a professional patissier from the Kakegawa Grand Hotel.

The pudding uses premium sencha tea powder sourced from Morioki Farm in Makinohara, a well-known tea-producing area in Shizuoka Prefecture. Unlike matcha-based sweets, the use of sencha powder gives it a flavor described as close to "eating tea itself" — fresh, aromatic, and full of depth.

The recipe was developed through multiple rounds of testing by the hotel's patissier to achieve a smooth, melt-in-your-mouth texture that best brings out the sencha flavor.

Three Highlights of Koumare Purin
1. Premium Local Sencha from Makinohara
The pudding features aromatic sencha powder from Morioki Farm in Makinohara — one of Japan's leading tea-producing regions — used generously for a rich, authentic tea flavor.
2. The Flavor of Tea Itself
By choosing sencha powder rather than matcha, the dessert recreates the fresh aroma and deep richness of tea in every bite, offering a distinctive taste that sets it apart from typical tea-flavored sweets.
3. Silky Smooth Texture
After extensive recipe testing, the Kakegawa Grand Hotel patissier perfected a smooth and creamy texture that draws out the full character of the sencha.
