Sendai Oktoberfest 2026, an autumn tradition in the City of Trees, opens for a 17-day run from Friday, September 11 to Sunday, September 27, 2026, at Nishikicho Park (Honcho, Aoba-ku, Sendai). Marking its 20th anniversary since first held in 2006, this year's festival deepens its commitment to local sourcing, regional revitalization in Tohoku, and international understanding, and welcomes visitors with a new area, Tohoku Minori Terrace. Whether or not you drink, everyone is invited to gather easily and enjoy themselves at what organizers call a "theme park for the whole community."

About the 20th Anniversary
For 20 years, "Kanpai" has brought the region together, as German tradition meets Tohoku's bounty in a "theme park for everyone."
Sendai Oktoberfest was created to recreate the excitement of a traditional beer festival from Munich, Germany, in the City of Trees, and this year marks its 20th anniversary.
While honoring the tradition of official German-brand beers, the festival has grown alongside the local community as a gathering place bringing together craft beer and food born of Tohoku's rich natural bounty. Through difficulties including the Great East Japan Earthquake, it has held to its mission of spreading energy through food and toasts and continuing to build connections between people, becoming a symbolic event that announces the arrival of autumn in Sendai.
For its 20th anniversary this year, the festival is updating itself into a more community-oriented event, aiming to become a "theme park" that beer fans, children, families, and non-drinkers alike can all thoroughly enjoy.
New Area: Tohoku Minori Terrace
A new area called "Tohoku Minori Terrace" debuts at the entrance, welcoming pets, with a market and stage to experience the flavors of Tohoku.
As one of this year's biggest highlights, the area at the venue's entrance (formerly GREEN TENT) has been completely updated into a new, open space anyone can drop into, called Tohoku Minori Terrace.
Its concept is a "street-corner harvest festival" where German energy meets Tohoku's bounty, blending the liveliness of a beer tent with the calm of a shaded, tree-lined space.
Through a market gathering Tohoku's food and crafts and lively stage events, visitors can experience the region's bounty up close. Whether or not you drink, everyone can raise a glass of something delicious from Tohoku for a "Prost" (cheers) together and casually enjoy a "minori" (harvest) moment and its food culture.
Pets are also welcome throughout most of Tohoku Minori Terrace, with the exception of a few designated areas, so families can stop by with their dogs during a walk and enjoy some relaxing time together.

Tickets & Admission
A new, limited-quantity "Free Pass" lets visitors come and go as many times as they like during the event.
Limited-Quantity "Free Pass" (¥2,000)
A "Free Pass" (¥2,000, tax included) that waives the Sendai Oktoberfest 2026 admission fee for the entire event period will go on sale.
It will be sold starting when the venue opens on September 11 (Fri), at the information booth, limited to the first 100 people. (Food and drink at the venue cost extra.)

Drinks & Food
Star German beers and Tohoku craft beers join forces with enticing food.
From official Oktoberfest brand beers to other authentic German labels, and popular craft beers from breweries across Tohoku, a full lineup will be on hand.
Classic German dishes that pair perfectly with beer, starting with sausages, will be served alongside Tohoku cuisine.
