Shin-Furano Prince Hotel (located in Nakagoryo, Furano, Hokkaido; General Manager: Yuji Iga) will offer a limited-time Japanese course menu marking the 45th anniversary of the broadcast of TV drama "From the Northern Country," available from Tuesday, September 8 to Sunday, October 18, 2026.
The TV drama "From the Northern Country," set in Furano, first began airing in October 1981 and now marks its 45th anniversary this year. In the Furano area, Furano Prince Hotel served as the location team's base from the continuous drama series through "'87 First Love," while Shin-Furano Prince Hotel served that role from "'89 Homecoming" through "2002 Testament." To mark the 45th anniversary of the broadcast, the hotel is offering an original Japanese course menu themed on the drama's scenes and story, using ingredients from the Furano area.
By once again sharing Furano's charm and the rich world of the drama, the hotel hopes to give long-time fans a reason to visit and pass the show's appeal on to new generations, marking this milestone for a work that has been loved by so many for so long. Through this, Shin-Furano Prince Hotel aims to contribute to raising the value of the Furano area, while also strengthening its brand value and its ties with the local community. As part of the sustainability actions promoted by the Seibu Group, the hotel will also continue working with the local community to promote local production for local consumption.

- Hokkaido-grown ぶどう豆 shinjo, shaped to resemble the stone walls of the stone house Goro built by hand, where Jun and Hotaru grew up
- Hokkaido-grown Japanese yam, grilled to resemble the firewood Jun and Hotaru worked so hard to split
- Rausu salmon marinated in soy sauce, using salmon caught at Rausu Fishing Port, where Jun and Yui went on a date
Fish Course
- Smoked Hokkaido-grown yamame trout, smoked in the style of the fish Jun caught and Goro smoked
Hot Pot
- Furano wagyu beef and Furano pork "Ichibanboshi" shabu-shabu hot pot, savoring delicious meat in Furano, where Jun and Hotaru grew up, together with Furano-grown carrots, Hokkaido-grown mushrooms (maitake, shiitake, enokitake) and other vegetables
Meal
- Ginger ramen to finish the meal, evoking the scene where the children are still eating when the ginger ramen arrives, served with toppings of char siu, green onion, narutomaki fish cake, menma bamboo shoots, and grated ginger
Dessert
- Furano-grown pumpkin pudding with ice cream, evoking the pumpkin that became known throughout Japan as a token of sincerity

About "From the Northern Country" — 45th Anniversary
"From the Northern Country" first aired on Fuji TV in 1981 and remains one of the most enduring masterpieces in Japanese drama history. Set against the great outdoors of Furano, Hokkaido, it tells the story of a family's love, following Goro Kuroita, played by Kunie Tanaka, and his children Jun (Hidetaka Yoshioka) and Hotaru (Tomoko Nakajima). Its cast of vivid, deeply human characters and its many memorable scenes were met with overwhelming support at the time, and after the original 24-episode series, eight special episodes were broadcast, from "'83 Winter" in 1983 through to "2002 Testament."
