Shizuru Kamogawa Launches Exclusive 113㎡ Suite with Private Noryo-yuka Terrace, Available One Room Per Day

Shizuru Kamogawa, a five-room boutique hotel located at 145-1 Tennomachi, Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto, is set to begin offering a new special suite from May 1, 2026. The Kamogawa Noryo-yuka Suite combines a 67㎡ guest room with a 46㎡ private noryo-yuka terrace, giving guests sole use of a 113㎡ riverside space to experience the Kamogawa from morning to night.

Reimagining a Kyoto Summer Tradition

The noryo-yuka, a practice of riverside dining and relaxing that dates back to the Edo period, is one of Kyoto's most recognizable summer traditions. Rows of glowing lanterns and the sounds of laughter along the riverbank have long defined the city's summer evenings.

Shizuru Kamogawa has reinterpreted this experience as something altogether more private. Rather than joining the lively crowds along the river, guests of this suite step onto a terrace reserved entirely for themselves—where the cool breeze off the Kamogawa and the sound of flowing water set the tone for a genuinely unhurried stay.

Available in just one ground-floor room, the 46㎡ private noryo-yuka is designed to bring guests as close as possible to the river while keeping the experience wholly their own.
