SONO Moon Nagoya Opens as South Korean Hospitality Group SONO Makes Its Japan Debut

SONO Moon Nagoya, the first Japan hotel from South Korean hospitality group SONO International, opened on June 1, 2026. The lifestyle hotel is located just an 8-minute walk from Nagoya Station, at the crossroads of the city's modern high-rise redevelopment area and the historic Yanagibashi Central Market district — a location where the contemporary energy of the city meets longstanding local culture.

The hotel is operated by SONO Hotels & Resorts Asia, a wholly owned subsidiary of SONO International, which manages a portfolio of over 14,500 rooms across seven countries.

Opening Ceremony

An opening ceremony took place on the morning of June 1 in the hotel's lobby lounge. Ann Jihong, Senior Vice President of SONO Hotels & Resorts Asia, expressed appreciation to those involved: "It is a great honor and a deeply moving moment to celebrate the grand opening of SONO's first hotel in Japan before all of you. This moment would not have been possible without the vision, trust, and unwavering support of our respected partners."

General Manager Kazuhiro Noguchi spoke about the hotel's role: "SONO Moon Nagoya is not simply a place to stay — it is a base where guests visiting Nagoya can feel at ease, and a place they will remember long after their trip. We will deliver the warmth of Nagoya and the comfortable hospitality unique to SONO, to guests coming from both within Japan and abroad."

A Base for Travelers Looking Beyond the Usual

SONO Moon Nagoya draws inspiration from local culture, food, history, and the stories of the city. It is designed as a home base for travelers who want to experience the vibrant energy of Nagoya beyond the standard tourist circuit.

The hotel features 130 rooms focused on comfort and functionality, along with a stylish lobby lounge featuring a colorful "NAGOYA Wall MAP" that orients guests to the city. It is a fitting option for both leisure and business travelers.

With the 20th Asian Games (2026/Aichi-Nagoya) running from September 19 to October 4, 2026, and the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Para Games from October 18 to 24, 2026, the hotel is positioned to welcome international visitors as Nagoya attracts growing global attention.
