Starbucks Japan begins its Halloween season on Friday, October 9, 2026, with the theme "Halloween purple cat in mystery forest." The star of the lineup is the Blackberry Yogurt Frappuccino® Black Ears ver., inspired by a "Phantom Purple Cat" lurking in a strange forest. The drink has a eerie purple body topped with black cat ears that stand upright. The Blackberry Yogurt Frappuccino® White Ears ver., topped with white cat-ear chocolate, is available as well.
A Matcha Anko Butter Chocolate Scone Sandwich, made with black chocolate scone dough that looks like it could pop out on Halloween night, joins the lineup too. This year's Halloween also comes with a participatory experience: searching for the Phantom Purple Cat hidden in stores and on social media.
Blackberry Yogurt Frappuccino® (Black Ears ver. / White Ears ver.)
This Frappuccino® pairs a blackberry chocolate sauce, where the sweet-tart flavor of blackberry meets the depth of chocolate, with blueberry yogurt that has a fruity texture and a pleasantly clean tartness. It is finished with a cat-ear chocolate topping.
Two versions are available, so you can choose the ears to match your mood.
- Black Ears ver.: Bitter chocolate flavor with a cool look
- White Ears ver.: Milky-sweet white chocolate flavor with a cute impression
The cup looks as if the Purple Cat is peeking out of it, and the berry and chocolate flavors add depth to the taste. Depending on stock, you may not be able to choose between the two versions.

Matcha Anko Butter Chocolate Scone Sandwich
This scone sandwich is made with black chocolate scone dough filled with matcha sweet bean paste (anko) and butter. Its unique look resembles a ghost sticking out its tongue.
The flavor balances sweetness, saltiness, bitterness, and toasty aroma, making it a satisfying treat for adults. The mild bitterness of matcha tempers the sweetness, the saltiness and richness of the butter add depth, and the toasty chocolate scone dough layers on top, so the result is not too sweet and has a lot of depth.
Look for the Phantom Purple Cat in Stores
During the period, the capricious Phantom Purple Cat hides quietly in various places inside stores, as if it had slipped out of a mysterious forest. Following its footprints may lead you to the cat. The hiding spots differ from store to store, so each visit can bring a new discovery (excluding some stores).

From October 6, an interactive feature on the official Starbucks X account lets you easily enjoy a game of tag with the Purple Cat, which "actually loves to play tag" in its strange forest.
