Whisky & Wine "Shun" on the 6th floor of Swissôtel Nankai Osaka will hold a special "Whisky Social" event on Saturday, April 25, 2026. The monthly series welcomes whisky enthusiasts and newcomers alike, and this April edition features Yuzo Ishihara — Suntory's 5th generation Master of Whisky — as a special guest lecturer.
About the Event
Ishihara will introduce the appeal of Suntory's single malt whisky lineup and guide attendees through the flavors and aromas of three expressions: The Yamazaki Single Malt Japanese Whisky, Suntory Yamazaki 12 Years Single Malt, and Suntory Yamazaki 18 Years Single Malt. Both the 12-year and 18-year expressions have become increasingly difficult to obtain in recent years, making this a rare opportunity to taste all three side by side.
After the seminar, guests can enjoy a free-flow of The Yamazaki Single Malt alongside dishes from "Shun," all set to the backdrop of live jazz.
Guest Lecturer: Yuzo Ishihara
Yuzo Ishihara joined Suntory in 1991 and has dedicated his career to whisky education, serving as a seminar lecturer and a judge for the TWSC (The Whisky & Spirits Competition). In 2016, he became the 5th Master of Whisky, a certification awarded by the Whisky Culture Research Institute. He also holds qualifications as a wine sommelier, sake sommelier (kikizakeshi), and Comrade of Cheese.
The Master of Whisky is the highest level of Japan's "Whisky Connoisseur" certification system, an accreditation dedicated to the promotion and development of whisky culture. Only 19 people in Japan currently hold this title.
