A new private villa-style accommodation, TOVILLA STAY Niigata Honcho, is scheduled to open in the Furumachi area of Chuo-ku, Niigata City on Saturday, May 30, 2026. The hotel is operated by Hirose Hotels & Resorts Co., Ltd. (Niigata Prefecture).
The concept behind the facility is a contemporary reinterpretation of the "hatago" (traditional roadside inn) culture that once flourished in the port town of Furumachi, bringing to life a new type of stay described as "sleeping in Furumachi." While serving as an accommodation base that blends into the daily rhythm of the town, it offers a fully unmanned style of hospitality.
Reservations for stays from May 30 onward are now being accepted on the official website.

Concept and Name

The name TOVILLA STAY combines "TO VILLA" (meaning "to the villa") with a reading of "tobira" (扉, door), expressing the idea that the villa's door serves as an entry point to new encounters with the town and its people — a place where connections form and expand throughout a stay.
Features
1. A New Kind of Urban Stay
Rather than simply touring tourist spots, guests are invited to step into the everyday life of the town. TOVILLA STAY Niigata Honcho is situated in the heart of the Honcho arcade and Ninjin-yokocho (Humanity Alley) district, yet stepping inside reveals a quiet, private atmosphere. The experience is designed to redefine the relationship between visitors and the town — from "passing through" to "staying."
2. A Stay That Changes With Who You're With
The space adapts to different kinds of groups:
- Couples looking to immerse themselves in the town
- Friends seeking evenings that stretch into the night
- Families or relatives gathering for lasting memories
- Teams on retreats or deep-discussion sessions
The same space offers different experiences depending on who shares it.
3. Fully Unmanned Operation
Check-in and the entire stay are managed digitally, making the facility fully unmanned. The aim is to create a new form of accommodation for a new era — one where the space and experience itself carry the value, even without face-to-face interaction.

Guest Rooms
Located within the buzz of the shopping arcade, the property opens into a newly built space where tranquility and refinement coexist. It is composed of four low-rise wooden two-story villa buildings, and every room features a two-floor layout with a compact kitchen.

The suite rooms (Room E and F) include a private sauna. The design gently connects the interior room with the outdoor space, allowing guests to enjoy the full cycle of sauna use — including outdoor air bathing — within a spacious, open setting.
