Ukiyoe Immersive Art Exhibition AOMORI, an immersive digital art museum where visitors can step into the world of ukiyo-e, is underway from July 11 (Saturday) to August 30 (Sunday), 2026.
The exhibition has now surpassed 30,000 visitors, and a commemorative ceremony was held to mark the occasion. The 30,000th visitor was a family visiting from Hirosaki City, who received commemorative gifts — including the official Ukiyoe Immersive Art Exhibition catalog and a hand towel — presented by 大瀬良一, Chairman of the Aomori Prefectural Citizens' Mutual Aid Co-op. "We were so surprised to be the 30,000th visitor. My grandmother gave us the tickets as a gift, so we're really looking forward to enjoying it," they said, sharing how they had been looking forward to the visit even before entering. With just 9 days remaining, Ukiyoe Immersive Art Exhibition AOMORI — which visitors of all ages, from children to adults, can enjoy — is open without any closed days through August 30 (Sunday). Please take this opportunity to visit.

Ukiyoe Immersive Art Exhibition AOMORI is an immersive, hands-on art exhibition based on more than 300 works by Edo-period ukiyo-e artists — including Katsushika Hokusai, Utagawa Kuniyoshi, and Utagawa Hiroshige — brought to life through digital art content such as 3DCG animation and projection mapping.
Since debuting in Nagoya in July 2023, the exhibition has traveled to Kagoshima, Tokyo, Fukuoka, and Osaka, as well as venues abroad — Milan in April 2024, and Taipei and Kaohsiung in 2025 — and is currently running in Paris in 2026, with the exhibition drawing growing attention worldwide. This summer of 2026 marks its first-ever run in the Tohoku region. Alongside the digital exhibits, the exhibition also displays notable ukiyo-e prints from the Edo period and reproductions, offering a chance to learn about the history of ukiyo-e and Edo-period culture.
Ukiyoe Immersive Art Exhibition AOMORI, a limited-time immersive exhibition bringing to life ukiyo-e masterworks that have continued to captivate the world across eras, invites visitors to enjoy this dynamic experience while it lasts.
