Ukiyoe Immersive Art Exhibition AOMORI presents more than 300 works by Edo-period ukiyo-e artists — including Katsushika Hokusai, Utagawa Kuniyoshi, and Utagawa Hiroshige — reimagined through 3DCG animation, projection mapping, and other digital art techniques as an immersive experience-based exhibition.
Since debuting in Nagoya in July 2023, it has traveled to Kagoshima, Tokyo, Fukuoka, and Osaka, as well as venues abroad, including Milan in April 2024, Taipei in 2025, and Paris in 2026. This summer marks the exhibition's first-ever run in the Tohoku region. Alongside the digital displays, the exhibition also shows historical ukiyo-e prints and reproductions, with explanations covering the history of ukiyo-e and Edo-period culture.
With just three days left before Ukiyoe Immersive Art Exhibition AOMORI opens, visitors will soon be able to see these ukiyo-e masterworks brought to life at the Tōō Nippō Shinmachi Building.

Tsugaru Craft Select Shop Kusamura to Open a Pop-Up Store
Kusamura, a popular shop in Hirosaki's Dotemachi district that curates Aomori's traditional crafts with a modern sensibility, will open a shop adjoining the exhibition venue. The store carries goods that blend detailed artisan craftsmanship with modern design — pieces its fans describe as quality art that fits into everyday life.
Visitors are welcome to browse the shop on its own, without an exhibition ticket. It carries a wide range of exhibition-exclusive merchandise and Aomori souvenirs, so it's worth a stop when visiting the venue.
