"Ukiyoe Immersive Art Exhibition AOMORI" is currently underway at New's Hall in the Too Nippo Shinmachi Building, running from July 11 through August 30, 2026. To mark the occasion, an official record video of the exhibition has been released.
Organized by Too Nippo Co., Ltd., Aomori Broadcasting Corporation, and the Too Nippo Cultural Foundation, the show marks the exhibition series' first appearance in the Tohoku region. Around the world, the touring exhibition has drawn a cumulative total of more than 500,000 visitors.
An Immersive Journey Through Ukiyo-e
Ukiyoe Immersive Art Exhibition AOMORI draws on more than 300 works by world-renowned ukiyo-e artists — including Katsushika Hokusai, Utagawa Kuniyoshi, Utagawa Hiroshige, Kitagawa Utamaro, Toshusai Sharaku, and Utagawa Kunisada — reimagined as graphical digital art through 3DCG animation and projection mapping. Across nine three-dimensional video spaces, visitors of all ages can step directly into the world of ukiyo-e.

Aomori-Only Exhibits
For its Aomori run, the exhibition includes a special display space being shown publicly for the first time, exploring the many facets of "Aomori and ukiyo-e" — from landscape paintings depicting Aomori to the connections between the Nebuta Matsuri festival and ukiyo-e art. Beyond the artistic value of the works themselves, the exhibition also offers displays explaining the everyday life and culture of the Edo period in accessible terms.
