Yumoto Takubokutei, a 198-room onsen hotel in Hakodate's Yunokawa Onsen, is offering a stay plan called "Wander in a Yukata — A Shrine Visit Stroll," which includes a ticket that can be exchanged for a season-limited papercut goshuin at nearby Yukura Shrine.
A Summer-Only Design
The design currently available for exchange is limited to summer. It shows a rabbit spirit gazing up at a wind chime, a familiar sight of the season, surrounded by vivid plumeria, bellflowers, and vinca — a design available only for a limited time.
Yukura Shrine, Watching Over Yunokawa Onsen's History
Yukura Shrine stands in Yunokawa Onsen, one of Hakodate's best-known hot spring areas, and is a shrine cherished by the local community. It enshrines Okuninushi no Kami and Sukunahikona no Kami, who are worshipped as deities of medicine and hot springs.
The shrine is about a 10-minute walk from the hotel. After soaking in the onsen, guests can stroll the hot spring town in their yukata before visiting the historic shrine, taking in an unhurried stretch of time that a trip makes possible.
