Allegro Aoshima: A 400-Tsubo Wood-Fired Italian Restaurant Opens in Miyazaki's Aoshima on April 15, 2026

On April 15, 2026, Trattoria Pizzeria Allegro Aoshima will open in Aoshima, Miyazaki — just a one-minute walk from Aoshima Station. The restaurant occupies a renovated old folk house with a total site area of approximately 400 tsubo (roughly 1,320 sqm), situated right in the center of one of Miyazaki's most iconic coastal areas.

The Roots of a Casual Italian Trattoria

Allegro was founded in 2006 in Hyogo Prefecture under the concept of a "sandals-welcome Italian" — a place where anyone can drop in without fuss, from everyday meals to date nights and birthdays. The restaurant group now operates around 40 locations across Osaka, Hyogo, Okinawa, and California under its various brands.

Allegro Aoshima marks the group's first venture into a full-scale tourism destination. The casual, everyday-Italian approach remains unchanged: a relaxed atmosphere with a wood-fired oven at its core, and an accessible price point that keeps the "neighborhood trattoria" spirit alive.

Menus Rooted in Miyazaki Ingredients

The kitchen centers on a wood-fired oven imported directly from Naples, firing at 500°C to produce authentic Neapolitan pizza. The same oven is used to cook Miyazaki wagyu bistecca (Italian-style steak), plated whole and carved tableside — served rare and hot, simply finished with butter, meat juices, and lemon.

Another highlight is a bold tomato cream pasta inspired by the sunsets of Aoshima, whimsically named "Aoshima Sunrise – The Indulgent Tomato Cream Spaghetti." The pastry side is handled by a chef with a background in hotel patisserie, with desserts including mango crepes and cheesecake, all built around locally sourced ingredients.

Craft Beer and Wines

On the drinks side, the restaurant serves an original craft beer — a Mexican lager with a clear golden color, light and refreshing, with a modest alcohol content designed for daytime enjoyment. Squeezing in some "hebesu" — a Miyazaki specialty citrus — makes it even crisper. The beer's playful name ("Even in Aoshima, give up your seat on the train") is a nod to the beach town's relaxed character.

A sommelier has curated the wine list, ranging from everyday sparkling, white, and red wines to premium bottles for special occasions.

Ties to the Local Community

The bread is supplied by a local bakery run by a professional surfer, with classic rustic-style rustique on the menu. The restaurant team is made up of local Miyazaki residents, people who have relocated to the area, and support staff from the Osaka headquarters — a structure that keeps the restaurant grounded in the community while maintaining brand quality.

Location: At the Heart of Aoshima

The restaurant is located just steps from Aoshima Shrine, with Aoshima's main surf spots also within walking distance. Both guests and staff include plenty of surfers, making the setting genuinely part of the local beach culture. The restaurant is easily accessible by car, motorbike, or the JR Nichinan Line.

Aoshima Shrine is just minutes from the restaurant, with the famous "Devil's Washboard" rock formations and surf spots nearby

Surf Culture at the Table

In collaboration with a well-known professional surfer, the restaurant is developing an off-menu pizza named after them, with a portion of the sales going toward free-loan surfboards and cargo bikes available on-site — making it easy for kids and beginners to get into the water. Miyazaki Airport is about 15 minutes by car from Aoshima's surf spots, making it one of the most accessible quality surf locations in Japan.

Taking the Train to Aoshima

The JR Nichinan Line offers a scenic coastal ride from Miyazaki Station, arriving at Aoshima in about 30 minutes. Because Allegro Aoshima is just a minute's walk from Aoshima Station, coming by train means no need to worry about driving — guests can enjoy craft beer, wine, and a full meal from lunchtime, staying as long as they like before heading home.
