BIRKENSTOCK Opens Its First Directly Managed Nagoya Station-Area Store at Takashimaya Gate Tower Mall

BIRKENSTOCK, the footwear brand built around its signature footbed and a commitment to natural walking for people around the world, is opening its first directly managed store in the Nagoya Station area, where visitors can try on and experience the fit and quality of its products firsthand. Located at the heart of Nagoya Station, a gateway hub for the Chubu region, the new store carries a wide lineup ranging from sandals to shoes year-round.

Following the concept store that opened in the Sakae area in 2024, this new location marks BIRKENSTOCK's second store in Nagoya and is located inside Takashimaya Gate Tower Mall, directly connected to Nagoya Station.

Store Design

Nagoya once flourished as a post town, shaped by the flow and connections of the many travelers who passed through it. To express a connection to "walking," an act central to BIRKENSTOCK's mission, the store's design incorporates distinctive curves inspired by the anatomical shape of the brand's footbed, aiming to recreate the comfort of walking barefoot on soft, natural ground.

At the center of the store, fixtures finished in BIRKENSTOCK's signature blue tile are arranged iconically around a round bench. A noren curtain made using Arimatsu shibori, a traditional Nagoya craft, is decorated with the brand's signature bone pattern used on the outsoles of its footwear, adding a light touch to the space.

By carefully combining materials and elements rooted in Nagoya's history and culture with the heritage and shoemaking traditions BIRKENSTOCK has carried since 1774, and reinterpreting them from a contemporary perspective, the store creates a warm space where visitors can sense both fine craftsmanship and the brand's distinct character.

Product Lineup

Inside the open, airy store, the full lineup covers a range of needs: clogs and shoes suited for the fall and winter seasons, boots, popular standard items, original shoe care products to help customers enjoy their footwear for years to come, and the "CARE ESSENTIALS" foot and body care line, made entirely from natural-derived ingredients.

At BIRKENSTOCK Takashimaya Gate Tower Mall, visitors can experience the brand's world as a footbed maker active around the globe, along with the comfortable fit designed to support the natural function of the foot.

Opening Gift

To mark the opening, customers who spend 22,000 yen or more (tax included) will receive a tote bag featuring motifs of the BOSTON, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, and the LONDON, which celebrates its 40th. Quantities of each tote bag are limited, and they will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis.
