Buttery (バタリー), a Western sweets shop with a focus on quality butter, is opening a new location — "Buttery Matsuzakaya Nagoya" — on Wednesday, June 3, 2026. The shop will be located on the B1F (Basement 1st floor) of Matsuzakaya Nagoya's North Building, at 16-1 Sakae 3-chome, Naka-ku, Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture. This marks the brand's first-ever opening inside a department store.

The space is designed around Buttery's signature soft pastel yellow and white palette, complemented by natural wood tones. A 40-seat café area gives guests a front-row view of the open kitchen, where the rich aroma of butter fills the air as madeleines and millefeuilles are baked fresh throughout the day.
Freshly Baked Madeleines and Millefeuilles

The madeleine at the new location is made with Hokkaido butter and honey, creating a gently sweet, fluffy treat. Generously sized, it is designed to be the centerpiece of any café visit.
Buttery's signature millefeuille is filled to order with a house-made cream combining fresh cream and custard. Because the cream is added just before serving, the pastry layers stay crisp and flaky until the last bite.
Exclusive Café and Dining Menu

The Matsuzakaya Nagoya location introduces an exclusive café and dining menu. Savory highlights include a Croque Monsieur smothered in a homemade béchamel sauce made with Japanese domestic cultured butter, and a Croissant Sandwich using an in-house-baked French AOP cultured-butter croissant filled with ham and cheese.
On the more substantial side, there is a Lobster Pilaf featuring poached lobster with an Américaine sauce, alongside pasta and quiche options. All meal sets include soup, salad, and a drink; an additional ¥350 upgrades the meal to a lunch dessert set.
Dessert and Sweets Menu

Beyond the madeleine and millefeuille, the dessert lineup includes a warm Apple Pie served with cold ice cream, and a limited-quantity Baked Sweets Set offering a taste of three baked goods, including financier and canelé. A range of drinks — Buttery's original coffee blend, teas, juices, and more — rounds out the café experience.
Matsuzakaya-Exclusive Buttery Sablé Can

As a takeout gift option, the new store offers the Buttery Sablé Can, available exclusively at the Matsuzakaya Nagoya location. The tin contains an assortment of 30 sablés in three flavors: "Wheat Germ & Wasanbon" — nutty with a gentle sweetness from Japanese refined sugar; "Chocolat Orange" — chocolate dough with a hint of orange; and "Brown Sugar Spice" — Earl Grey tea leaves combined with three spices for a refreshing kick. The packaging features a small blue and yellow floral pattern in an exclusive Matsuzakaya Nagoya design.
A wider range of gift items, including financiers and cookies, is also available in store.
