Product brand goyemon (ごゑもん), known for its "Japanese tradition × cutting-edge technology" approach, is opening its largest flagship store to date — goyemon OSAKA — in Shinsaibashi, Osaka on Saturday, April 18, 2026.
Since the brand's founding in 2018, goyemon has developed products that blend tradition and innovation, most notably the unda (雲駄), a fusion of the traditional Japanese setta sandal and the modern sneaker. Until now, the brand has operated from a single Tokyo location, goyemon SHIBUYA. The Osaka opening marks goyemon's first foray into the Kansai region.
The timing carries cultural resonance: goyemon's unda was selected as the official footwear for staff at the Japan Pavilion during the 2025 Osaka-Kansai World Expo, making Osaka a meaningful city for the brand's expansion.

A Space That Deconstructs and Rebuilds Japanese Aesthetics
goyemon OSAKA spans approximately 150 square meters with a ceiling height of 4 meters, making it the brand's most spacious store to date. The interior is designed not merely as a retail space, but as an immersive environment where visitors can experience the stories and concepts behind each product.
The design approach mirrors goyemon's product philosophy: taking elements of traditional Japanese spatial design, breaking them down to their essentials, and reconstructing them through a contemporary lens.

At the heart of the store hangs a striking 2.1-meter circular mirror, which evokes the Japanese concept of shakkei (borrowed scenery) — the traditional practice of framing external landscapes as part of an interior composition.
Along the walls, footwear is displayed on a shoes wall reminiscent of a sneaker shop, placing traditional setta sandals in a distinctly modern retail context.

Visible through the street-facing glass facade is an 8-meter noren (a traditional fabric divider) composed of nine panels — a nod to the Japanese cultural belief that odd numbers bring good fortune. Combined with a gravel floor, the noren softly delineates the boundary between inside and outside. A 1.8-meter square tatami fixture (the equivalent of two tatami mats) and a sculpture of three stacked stones further incorporate elements of Japanese spatial tradition throughout the store.
These elements are not mere decoration; each is intended to let visitors sense the inherent charm and cultural context it carries.
Store-Exclusive Items at goyemon OSAKA
Visitors to goyemon OSAKA will have access to a lineup of items available only in-store, including limited-edition products, exclusive novelties, advance releases, and quantity-limited offerings.
The Limited Shopper: A "Thief"-Themed Furoshiki

Purchases at goyemon OSAKA come wrapped in a furoshiki (a traditional Japanese wrapping cloth) rather than a conventional paper bag. The design draws on Osaka's legendary connection to the great thief Ishikawa Goemon — the very figure behind the brand's name — featuring an original pattern that weaves the letters of "goyemon" into a traditional arabesque motif associated with thieves.
A furoshiki is, by nature, a multifunctional cloth that can be folded and used in different ways; it's designed to be taken home and used again, well beyond a single shopping trip. This limited furoshiki is offered as a gift with purchases of ¥10,000 (tax included) or more, while supplies last.
Store-Exclusive unda (雲駄)

On opening day, goyemon OSAKA will debut a store-exclusive version of the unda (雲駄). Built on the standard colorway, this model features a tiger-pattern jacquard fabric on the nose cord and a Kyoto-made nylon footbed known for its durability and resistance to wear. A slim HOVER sole completes the silhouette, preserving the traditional setta profile while letting the tiger-pattern design take center stage.
New unda Model: Advance Release

Alongside the store-exclusive model, a new unda featuring a full-length air unit is being released in advance at goyemon OSAKA. Part of the TOUGH series, this model incorporates a full-length air unit running from toe to heel, adding a visually dynamic, high-tech presence to the design.
The lineup includes four variants: two standard models with traditional velvet nose cords (BLACK and SUMI), and two PADDED models (BLACK and SUMI) featuring a voluminous, cushioned nose cord for a softer fit. All four use the same Kyoto-made nylon footbed. The juxtaposition of traditional velvet materials and full-length air sole technology is central to the design's appeal.
ANCOH (庵光) New Color: SKELETON

goyemon's ANCOH (庵光) — a product that fuses the traditional Japanese paper lantern with solar LED lighting — is getting a new color at goyemon OSAKA. The SKELETON variant exposes the internal structure of the lantern in a near-future aesthetic that recalls the excitement of early consumer technology. This color is available as a quantity-limited special model exclusive to goyemon OSAKA. Standard colors (BLACK, GREIGE, and SAND) will also be stocked.
Store-Exclusive Apparel

To mark the Osaka opening, goyemon has produced limited-edition apparel featuring a bold graphic of the characters "大阪" (Osaka) on the back. The design starts from an Edo-period calligraphy style and overlays it with a modern dot-gradient treatment in goyemon's characteristic approach. A goyemon logo sits on the left chest. The garment is unisex, with a wide body and shorter length that gives it a silhouette reminiscent of a happi coat. Made from 6.6 oz 100% cotton, the fabric is built to develop character with wear over time.
