Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo Presents "Forest Aurora and Tokyo Sea of Clouds" Winter Garden Experience Inspired by Moomin

Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo (located in Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo; General Manager: Tomohiko Chihiro) will launch the winter garden illumination event "Forest Aurora and Tokyo Sea of Clouds" starting November 11, 2025 (Tuesday).

This year's "Forest Aurora and Tokyo Sea of Clouds" features a collaboration with "Moomin." The novel "Moominland Midwinter" tells the story of Moomin waking from hibernation and encountering snow, ice, and the aurora for the first time. The hotel has cherished creating winter gardens where tranquility and warmth coexist, allowing guests to feel the beauty of changing seasons. These shared sensibilities between Moomin's world and the hotel made this collaboration a natural fit.

Walking Through "Moominland Midwinter" Garden Orientation

Throughout the garden, signboards and banners feature dialogue and episodes from characters like Too-ticky, the Groke, and the Hemulen, creating a narrative of "discovering winter." The staging evokes the story of Moomin experiencing winter and the aurora for the first time.

Guests enjoying Afternoon Tea, Evening High Tea, or Premium Afternoon Tea can experience a "Garden Orientation" that traces Moomin's story. Sticker rally sheets, garden maps, and letters from Snufkin are provided. This special stroll allows guests to experience the story more deeply, like "taking a journey through Moominvalley."

"Miracle Scenery" of the Urban Forest: Aurora and Tokyo Sea of Clouds

"Forest Aurora" is a light performance that layers six different intensities and angles of light, recreating the three-dimensional depth of real aurora. Set in the area around Yuisui Pond in the garden, the contrast of light and mist creates an enchanting winter night scene when combined with the Tokyo Sea of Clouds. This year, the aurora colors feature deeper emerald green and navy blue hues, creating an even more immersive and fantastical atmosphere.

During the period, the winter tradition of "Yukitsuri Illumination" will also be implemented, lighting up the snow-protection ropes. The garden illumination, registered as a "Japan Night View Heritage Site," envelops the garden in gentle light, making the quiet nighttime landscape even more beautiful.

Furthermore, the hotel shop "Selections" will offer limited-time meringue sweets "Aurora Meringue" inspired by the "Forest Aurora." Enjoy the winter-exclusive taste of cassis acidity and meringue sweetness.
