Kitano Ace Opens Its First Saga Prefecture Location at Saga Tamaya on April 9

A specialty food select shop, Kitano Ace, is set to open its first location in Saga Prefecture inside Saga Tamaya department store on Thursday, April 9, 2026. The store will be operated by Saga Tamaya Co., Ltd. under a franchise agreement with Ace Co., Ltd., which runs the Kitano Ace chain.

Large-Scale Renovation "Pre-Remodel" Underway at Saga Tamaya

Saga Tamaya began a large-scale renovation initiative called "Pre-Remodel" in March 2026. This initiative aims to comprehensively revamp the store's sales floors, product offerings, and overall experience value — positioning itself as a proof-of-concept for the "department store of the future."

The basement food hall (south building, basement level) is being refreshed under the theme of "lively atmosphere and sizzle." The layout has been redesigned to include in-store sushi and prepared food sections, as well as a drinks counter where visitors can enjoy items on the spot. The goal is to evolve into a department store that attracts not only destination shoppers but also everyday visitors. The addition of Kitano Ace is expected to bring an entirely new product lineup to the food floor.

With Kitano Ace now part of the food floor, shoppers in Saga can look forward to a greatly expanded selection. At the Saga Tamaya location, more than 300 items will be available, selected from a lineup of approximately 650 products. Popular items from Kitano Ace stores nationwide — such as flying fish (ago) dashi stock, carrot dressing for adults, and grilled salted mackerel — will be on offer, catering to both everyday use and gift-giving.
