MÉERT (メール), a pâtisserie and salon de thé (tea room) in Lille, France, that was founded in 1677, will open its first store in Japan on December 2. The new shop will be located in the グランアルチザン section on the basement level 1 of the Main Building at Isetan Shinjuku. Juchheim (ユーハイム) has signed a license agreement with MÉERT and is opening the store.
The brand's signature gaufre (a Lille-style waffle), which French people have enjoyed for many years, will also be offered in Japan. It is made to faithfully reproduce the taste of the original and is baked in the in-store kitchen.

Signature Gaufre, Baked in the In-Store Kitchen
The gaufre, which was born in 1849, is the brand's signature item. Unlike typical waffles with a thick, crisp-textured dough, it is wrapped in a delicate brioche dough with a soft mouthfeel.
The long-loved "Vanille" filling is a cream scented with Madagascar vanilla. A rich aroma and a deep sweetness spread from the first bite.
