Melon Afternoon Tea Returns to Hotel Century Southern Tower This Summer

Lounge SouthCourt (20th floor) at Hotel Century Southern Tower in Yoyogi, Shibuya, Tokyo is offering a limited-time "Melon Afternoon Tea" from May 1 (Friday) to August 31 (Monday), 2026. The set centers on domestic melon and covers everything from sweets to savory dishes, making it a fitting way to enjoy the early summer season while taking in panoramic views of Shinjuku's high-rise skyline.

Sweets

The sweets course features five items that highlight the refined sweetness of domestic melon. These include a melon shortcake and melon cream puff both paired with a light cream, a coconut panna cotta with melon for a cooling, smooth finish, and a melon and banana tart layering the flavors of two fruits. The lineup captures the fresh, bright sweetness characteristic of early summer.

Savory

Three savory items are served alongside the sweets. A Cajun chicken sandwich is garnished with colorful vegetables for a spicy kick, while a melon jambon persillé encases the flavors of melon and ham in a savory jelly. Rounding out the selection is a melon caprese, where melon's sweetness and mozzarella's saltiness complement each other.

Baked Goods & Scones

The baked goods selection includes the lounge's signature macarons, a melon and orange pound cake with citrus fragrance, and two varieties of scone served on a separate plate — a melon bread-inspired scone and a plain scone. These scones are enjoyed with a shishi yuzu-scented melon confiture (using shishi yuzu harvested in Tachikawa, Tokyo) and mascarpone cream. A seasonal limited-edition flavored tea chosen to complement the afternoon tea is also included.

Lounge Interior

The wide windows of Lounge SouthCourt frame sweeping views of Shinjuku's skyscrapers, providing a relaxed backdrop to enjoy the early summer flavors.

Drinks

More than 15 types of beverages — including black tea, coffee, and herbal teas — are available for unlimited refills during the first 1.5 hours of the session.

Optional Drinks

Three optional drinks (each ¥1,240 / ¥1,500 including service charge and tax) are available for separate order:

• Marine Breeze — A refreshing blue mocktail (non-alcoholic cocktail) suited for early summer.
• Strawberry Milk Float — A dessert-style float combining strawberry, milk, and vanilla ice cream.
• Caramel Float — An espresso float finished with caramel sauce for a bittersweet flavor.
