"Melon and Roman," Tsugaru City, Aomori Prefecture's antenna shop and Japan's first melon specialty workshop located in Kagurazaka, Tokyo, will begin serving its autumn menu starting September 16 (Wednesday), 2026.
The autumn menu introduces the new "Melon and Tea Parfait." Each layer of the parfait pairs melon with a different tea, including Assam tea chai bavarois, Earl Grey chiffon cake, a melon-yuzu tea jelly made with a blended flavored tea, and a gelato made with Japanese-grown black tea.
The shop is also adding "Melon Canelé" to its lineup — a canelé slow-baked in house that makes a perfect gift to bring along.
New: A Parfait Pairing Melon with a Variety of Teas

Melon and Tea Parfait — ¥2,400
A seasonal parfait built to highlight the aroma and flavor of both melon and tea. Juicy melon is paired with a refreshing melon-yuzu tea jelly, tea chiffon cake, chai bavarois, tea-and-melon gelato, and a mellow melon cheese cream, finished with accents of apricot and La France pear. Enjoy the rich, lingering notes of melon and tea in every bite.
New: The Canelé That Was a Hit in the Summer Parfait Joins the Regular Menu

Melon Canelé Plain — ¥380 / Melon Canelé White Pistachio — ¥430
The Melon Canelé Plain is made by mixing melon jam with melon juice into the batter, letting it rest overnight, and baking it at high heat — crisp and fragrant outside, moist inside. A White Pistachio version, made with rich white chocolate and pistachio, is also available. Enjoy melon's full flavor in two different styles.
Autumn Menu Availability: September 16 (Wednesday) to December 27 (Sunday), 2026
More Than Parfait: A Varied Menu of Melon Dishes
Melon Crêpe Suzette — ¥1,650
A generous topping of melon on the classic crêpe suzette, which originated in 19th-century France. The hot crêpe, infused with the flavors of orange, cognac, and butter, is served together with cold melon gelato and fresh melon.

Melon Specialty Shop's Keema Curry — ¥980
Melon is slow-cooked into a fruity chutney that forms the flavor base, along with plenty of burdock root, onion, carrot, and ginger — a keema curry only a melon specialty shop could make.

All prices listed include tax.

On July 7, 2019, Tsugaru City, Aomori Prefecture opened "Melon and Roman" in Kagurazaka, Tokyo, as an antenna shop dedicated to melon, one of the city's specialty products.
"Melon and Roman" is Japan's first melon specialty workshop, born from the "roman" (dream) of making melon a more beloved fruit. It offers original menu items made with seasonal melons gathered from across Japan, available both to eat in and take out. With custom melon-colored tiles as its symbol, the shop is designed as a space where visitors can experience melon through all five senses — taste, aroma, sight, sound, and touch — enjoying melon casually while getting to know it more deeply.
Aomori Prefecture ranks among the nation's top melon-producing regions in planted area, harvest volume, and shipment volume. Within the prefecture, Tsugaru City leads with approximately ¥2.49 billion in melon production value (Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, 2024 Estimated Agricultural Output by Municipality) — the highest in Aomori. As one of the country's top-tier melon-producing areas, "Melon and Roman" shares the appeal of melon every day.
