Aoyama Decarbo's Customizable "Merry-Go-Round Jewel Box" Candy Tin Launches at Isetan Shinjuku

Two Artists Team Up on Aoyama Decarbo's New "Jewel Box"

Aoyama Decarbo has taken the "confection tin" world it has always cherished a step further, creating a special case that looks just like a jewel box.

The goal behind the "Merry-Go-Round Jewel Box" was to merge "what only a tin can do" with "what a tin previously couldn't do." While preserving the charm that only a confection tin can offer, the design goes beyond the constraints of a can's material and shape to embrace freer forms and expression.

Through repeated trial and error on the shape of the case itself, the team achieved a free, three-dimensional finish that had previously been difficult to create. The sculptural design was handled by ceramicist and artist Hijiri Tougane. Glass paint artist Alisa Horita designed the tin's visuals and the magnets, bringing to life the sparkling, jewel-box-like image that Aoyama Decarbo has always valued.

A Peacock Figure, Feathers, and Jewels — Antique Style in Three Dimensions

Even set down on a shelf, the case is beautiful, with a dreamlike presence reminiscent of a merry-go-round.

The star of the "Merry-Go-Round Jewel Box" lid is the peacock, a motif symbolic of Isetan Shinjuku.

Set within a design inspired by the peacock's beautifully spread feathers are the blue stones and trump-card patterns that have appeared in many of the brand's past products. The result is glamorous yet reminiscent of an antique jewel box.

Distinctive features include the peacock figure on top and the three-dimensional "legs" on the base. Down to the finest details of its form, the design reflects techniques found in Hijiri Tougane's ceramic works.

Four Original Magnets Complete the Sides

The sides of the case feature a glass painting design that resembles colorful marble — solemn yet refined.

Attaching four original magnets completes the design, a feature made possible only by the magnetic nature of a tin can.

The original magnets take the shape of a crown (familiar from Aoyama Decarbo's logo), a heart, a gem, and a white horse.

Optional Magnets Let You Enjoy Your Own Jewel Box Even More

To make the "Merry-Go-Round Jewel Box" even more enjoyable, optional magnets are also available. Every one of them is filled with the sense of excitement that is quintessentially Aoyama Decarbo.

Choose your favorite magnets, attach them wherever you like, and rearrange them as you please.

You can customize your own "Merry-Go-Round Jewel Box" to match your taste or mood on any given day.

It's one more step toward the charm Aoyama Decarbo has always championed: something you can keep enjoying long after you've finished the confections inside.

Display it. Admire it. Swap out the magnets and enjoy it all over again. Even after the confections inside are gone, the fun continues in this new "jewel box."

Note: Various magnet designs will be restocked over time. The latest information on stock and sales will be shared on Aoyama Decarbo's official Instagram and X accounts as it becomes available. Please note that the designs and quantities in stock vary by season, and some of the magnets shown in the photos may not be available at launch.

Rice-Flour Almond Tuiles Sandwiching Caramel Chocolate

The confection inside the jewel box is an almond tuile baked with rice flour, with rich caramel chocolate sandwiched between the layers.

With every bite, a pleasant texture gives way to the fragrant aroma of the generous amount of almonds used. The toasty almonds layered with the deep, rich caramel chocolate create a full-bodied flavor to savor. Made with rice flour instead of wheat flour, each piece is carefully crafted with taste and texture as the top priorities.
