A new facility called "Momoko Sakura and Gujo Hachiman" is scheduled to open on July 4, 2026, at "Gujo Hachiman Machiyashiki Ecchizen-ya," a nationally registered tangible cultural property in Gujo City, Gifu Prefecture. The facility tells the story of beloved manga artist and essayist Momoko Sakura and her deep connection to the historic town of Gujo Hachiman.
To mark the upcoming opening, a specially commissioned key visual for the facility has been released to the public.
The key visual depicts the peaceful townscape and lush natural landscape of Gujo Hachiman. Set against a backdrop of verdant nature with Gujo Hachiman Castle visible in the distance, the illustration places the clear-flowing Yoshida River at its center. Momoko Sakura herself is shown standing on the Shimbashi Bridge that spans the river, while "GJ8-Man" (GJ Eight Man) — a character she created independently out of her love for Gujo Hachiman — soars through the sky above. Children playing freely in the river and wildlife living in harmony with the surroundings are also woven throughout the scene.
This landscape, where people's daily lives and nature exist side by side, symbolizes the charm of Gujo Hachiman as Momoko Sakura experienced it, and reflects the stories that the new facility aims to share.
